My friend Angie and I both have a thing for kitschy teapot cozies and googly eyes and so for her birthday, I knitted her this:
The pattern is available here. I even found a cool white teapot for a couple of bucks the very day I stopped in to look for one. The thrift store gods were smiling on me that day.
I got it done alot faster than I thought it would so it spent the last month or two sitting there on my kitchen table. I grew so fond of seeing it sitting there that I was bummed when it had to move on to its new home this weekend.
This morning, I messaged Angie to tell her that I thought it would make a funny dog hat for a dog with long ears to poke through the spout and pour holes. She ran off to try it out on Scout E. Pants, the golden retriever she's dogsitting this weekend. He was not amused:
I didn't think anyone but me and Angie would understand the appeal of the owl teapot cozy but I've received two requests for them from others for birthday and Mother's Day presents, plus I kinda want one for myself. I foresee lots of owl knitting in my future. Maybe I'll do a grey owl next, just to mix things up a little.
