My peeps and our pups headed to the dog park on a gloomy Saturday and we all had us a time:
That's Riley on the left, sporting her thrift store fleece coat that was modified just for her -- a weimeraner's coat just doesn't stand a chance against an Alaskan winter. On the right is Sadie, primly pretending she doesn't really want the stick which is why she's barely biting it with her two front teeth.
Baxter Bog, in all its gray-day glory:
I cannot be restrained by instagram's square frames:
Moose nibbles on downed trees:
My parents emerge from the enchanted forest onto the frozen bog:
There's something very Wes Anderson about this:
I have a thing for power lines, especially in the winter time:
A flyer posted on the bulletin board in the parking lot -- poor Elwin:
We returned to the car cold and hungry and made a beeline for my new favorite restaurant, Pho Vietnam on Jewel Lake, a no-frills but inviting and friendly spot that offers absolutely delicious dishes.
I died and went to red curry heaven. I could eat that soup every day and must try to re-create it at home. Now, where's the best place to buy a good curry paste in Anchorage?

I'm so glad to see you posting again. I did a covert jam exchange with you about 100 years ago and recently remembered your blog. I live in the land of curry paste and would be happy to send you a jar. This new year makes me nostalgic for interesting and memorable past events, including a strange jam exchange with a stranger in Alaska who sent peach jam to Georgia - the irony! Happy New Year to you.

Neena! I confess that when I started posting again, I thought to myself: I hope Georgia Neena notices. Of course I remember you and the peach jam. Yeah! If you have a good jar of curry paste, I would love some. The store I went to only had one kind & it's pretty blah. I'll send something your way in return. Email me at battersplattered @ hotmail dot com if you circle back & see this.
