Calling all canners! Do you have lovely little jars of homemade jams, jellies, preserves, etc. in your cupboard? Do you have plans to make some jam and/or jelly to celebrate late-summer and early-fall (one of my favorite seasonal activities)? Do you aspire to be a jammer or a jellier?
Well, do I have an idea for you.
Sign up for the Second Annual Jammin' Jelly Exchange and you can send one of your jars to someone across the country or the world and get a jar in exchange. Last year's exchange was tons of fun.
You don't have to have a blog to participate. You don't even have to have the jelly ready to go. I'll give you a month or so to prepare. And if it's your first time canning, don't worry. I'll be gentle. I got quite a few emails last year from desperate newbies bemoaning the burning of their figs and I think one participant had a mother who tasted her very first batch of jelly and said it was okay for family but wasn't something she should share with a stranger.
Harsh!
If you'd like to join up to exchange a jar in late-September or so, send me an email now at battersplattered @ hotmail dot com. Include your name and address, a link to your blog if you have one, and tell me whether you'd like to ship only within the U.S. -- last year we had quite a few people on a budget so I totally understand if you want to pay domestic shipping only, but don't let that discourage you from signing up if you're outside the U.S. because most people last year were thrilled to exchange overseas.
So far, I have the following people signed up:
April in Tennessee
Brenda from Indiana
Mary in Ohio
Kirstin in Michigan
Michelle in Colorado
Laura in New York
Neena in Georgia
Rebecca from England (a closet food blogger -- we'll see if we can haul her out of there)
Heather in Minneapolis
Erin from Virginia
Angie from Alaska
If you sent me an email earlier asking to be signed up, but you don't see your name listed, please shoot me another email.
I love the idea of being a "closet food blogger"! that's excellent. It might be harder to get me out of there now I've got that title. I'm currently in the swing of testing jam techniques and flavours, I can't wait to get exchanging.

I did this swap last year and loved it! Count me in again!

How does this work? Do you send to each one that participates and if so, how many jars do you need to have made? Is it generally in the one batch range? This sounds like loads of fun.

Thanks for your interest, everyone! To answer Kirstin's question, you only need one jar to participate in the exchange -- I'll match you up with a partner. Molly

I am pleased to announce I received not one but TWO jars of the most beautiful Crabapple Jelly and Peach Raspberry Jam from Kirsten. Now I just have to bake a nice loaf of bread so I can try them out. I can tell they're going to be far too nice to use the storebought stuff! Thanks Kirsten!
